Ten of our favourite things about our home town - Mullumbimby

We are based in the hinterland of Byron Bay at the base of Koonyum Range in Mullumbimby Creek.  We are available for client consultations via appointment on zoom or skype. This is a magical area filled with creatives, entrepreneurs and dreamers and lots that are a combination of the three.

Mullumbimby is a  community built by farming. Famous for its bananas, sugar cane,  cattle and dairy farming in the past it is now famous for its more diverse small crops horticulture gardens and produce.  Also famous for being Iggy Azalea and Petria Thomas'  home town and the well publicised passion of the anti-vaccination  and anti-5g advocates.

Mullumbimby is a 45 minute drive along the Pacific Highway through the picturesque tunnels and countryside of the Northern Rivers.  This hidden gem may not be as famous as the neighbouring Byron Bay with its world-famous lighthouse and beaches, yet should not be overlooked on your list of must-visit places.  Many long term locals would like to keep its beauty quiet to avoid increase in visitors yet for local business owners it is these visitors, many which become residents, that keep the economy in this mainly tourist town evolving and flourishing.

Here are ten of our favourite reasons why Mullumbimby is the most magical place in Australia.

10 -  Mullumbimby Community Gardens

A short walk from Mullumbimby Town Centre will find you in this award winning community treasure.   Run by a dedicated group of volunteers this great garden produces organic produce in their 'Food for All' gardens to share with those in the community in need.   They offer many workshops and interactive activities based around sustainability and environmental awareness.

9 - Brunswick Valley Historical Society

Another fabulous group of volunteers runs this portal into the history of Mullumbimby and surrounds.  Their buildings are open to the public a couple of times a week (details on their website link above or Facebook page) the volunteers are a wealth of knowledge.  If you are not in town during their opening hours you can do your own history walk around town with their map of historical places

8 - Mullumbimby Sculpture Walk

If colour, creativity and imagination is your jam then head over to the corner of Burringbar St and River Terrace just behind the Mullumbimby Post office and have a wander through the Sculpture Walk.  This is an initiative of the Creative Mullum group and utilises existing path and cycle-way to complement the composition of exotic palms planted in the 80’s and ongoing Landcare work.

7 - The Mullumbimby Chocolate Shop

Do you remember the days of joy spending your twenty cents of pocket money on 1cent lollies at the local Milk Bar?   Step back in time to experience old world charm. Take in the sights and smells of scrumptious, creamy chocolates, traditional old fashioned lollies, confectionary delights and super friendly service with a smile! The Mullumbimby Chocolate Shop has been a part of the community for 20 years, serving up sweets, treats and pleasure to both the young and old, and all those in between. Stop in and treat yourself or someone special to something sweet or simply say ‘hello’.   Situated diagonally opposite the Post Office at the end of the main street.

6 - Crystal Castle

Crystal Castle is constantly evolving, from the worlds largest amethyst cave crystals, the world's tallest geode pair of crystals to the Kalachakra World peace stupa and the incredibly extensive gardens its always worth a visit when you want to 'get grounded' or have a short escape from the sometimes overwhelming life we often live.  Their is also a fabulous collection of jewellery, books, cards plus aura readings and a lovely cafe to kick back and enjoy.

Crystal Castle is a short drive up Coolamon Scenic Drive overlooking the valleys of Mullumbimby.

5 - Mullumbimby Farmers Markets

If you are down in Mullumbimby on a Friday morning be sure to pack your empty shopping bags and head over to the pictureque Mullumbimby Showgrounds for the weekly farmers markets.   From 7am till 11am rain, hail or shine they offer a huge selection of not only fruits, herbs and vegetables yet also great coffee, baked goods, preserves and value added items from local producers.  Weekly musicians add to the colourful atmosphere and gives you a reason to stop and relax.

4 - The Patch Cafe

Our absolute favourite when it comes to coffee and fresh beautifully made food in Mullum.   Located on the main street just down from the first pedestrian crossing (opposite the Newsagency) you can sit out in the alfresco area alongside the garden patch and watch the locals go about their day or sit inside at one of the comfy tables.  Always excellent coffee with brilliant customer service and divine food.

3 - The Kiva Spa

Kiva Spa is the Byron shires premier garden spa - a place to let go, to drop into the stillness of Being, reconnect with the abundant fullness of Life and deeply nurture yourself.  Hidden away just down the laneway between the camping store and Betta Home Living, Kiva Spa offers lush gardens with spas, pools and saunas.  Sit back and enjoy in your own time and space or book in for a rejuvenating massage with one of the selection of therapists.  They are open daily from 10am till 7pm and Wednesday nights from 7pm till 9pm are Women's only nights.

2 - Vision Walks

For the best educational, fun and interesting nature tours in Australia book in for one of Vision Walks many great tours in and around the Mullumbimby area.

1 - Mullumbimby Main Street

If you are in Mullumbimby during the day be sure to enjoy some retail therapy along the main street of Mullumbimby.
